Spirit Week

The last week of February was Spirit Week at school. The kids had crazy hair day, silly sock day, cool colors day, hat day, and Read Across America day. We decorated each grade's door with a different color and the kids wore that color on Wednesday. The kids were quite spirited, so they needed a few extra hands during lunch.

On Thursday, we also had an assembly to talk about our Character Program. Kimball and I worked on this seal for the school. Every month the kids learn about a different Value like Respect, Responsibility, etc. Then, the class or school has activities to help them demonstrate that value. The assembly talked about people who have character and we introduced a program where kids get chosen as "special agents" who look for other kids that are showing character. Then, we have a raffle for all those kids to earn a prize.

My favorite part of the week was having this storyteller come. She did an amazing job. Three cute stories for the younger grades with so much expression, and even singing! Then, two longer tales for the upper grades that really taught the importance of knowledge and the magic of reading. It was excellent!

Like the shirt? We also designed and ordered these awesome shirts and hoodies for the school!

Sounds like a lot of work - but - no pain, no gain.
